Community Comes Together for Sayulita Cleanup – Over 400 Kilos Removed!

This month, more than 70 incredible volunteers joined forces in Sayulita to help clean up our town—and the results were powerful. Over 411 kilos of waste were collected in total, including 359 kilos of trash and 52 kilos of recycling.

The community-wide effort on June 11 was made possible thanks to the collaboration between GIRRSA, Azul Sayu, the Delegation of Sayulita, local Segundaria and Primaria students, and the Escuela Cooperativa. Participants helped clean high-traffic areas and, most importantly, focused on the Sayulita river, where years of waste and post-rain debris continue to wash into our ocean.

While the cleanup made a huge impact, the river remains heavily polluted. After recent rains, a large amount of trash ended up on the beach again—proving that regular cleanup isn’t enough. The only sustainable solution is education and proper waste collection at the source.

We’re proud of this joint effort and hope to see even more faces next time! The next community cleanup is scheduled to be held within the first two weeks of July. Stay tuned for the exact date and how to get involved.

Let’s keep Sayulita beautiful—together! 🌿🌊🧳
